Full Time – Elementary Teacher
Hosanna is a private, Christian school in Vancouver, Washington, partnering with families and students from Preschool to 12th Grade. We are growing and currently looking for qualified Elementary School Teachers to join our staff!
The Elementary Lead Teacher position works closely with other Elementary staff and will be responsible for one of our K-5th grade classes. At the most basic level, this teacher will successfully manage and monitor a classroom of Elementary school children and teach the fundamentals of basic subjects while following a Christian-based curriculum.
Elementary Lead Teacher Duties and Responsibilities:
The ideal Teacher will be comfortable managing a classroom independently and teaching multiple subjects clearly while promoting the mission and vision of Hosanna. Duties will include providing core subject instruction to all students in groups, one on one or as an entire class and provide additional mentorship to those who need it. They should encourage positive behavior and promote an equitable environment where all students feel safe and respected.
Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Preparing and executing lesson plans and materials while following grade specific curriculum.
Helping students prepare for standardized and state testing.
Communicating with parents the progress of each student throughout the year through
email, phone calls and conferences.
Work closely with other teachers and staff members to discuss policies and procedures.
Recording and/or reporting student’s progress to administrative staff.
Being creative in helping students stay focused during class lessons and desk work.
Encouraging each student and finding fun and unique ways to teach and engage students.
Providing a healthy and safe learning environment at all times.
Elementary Teacher Skills and Qualifications:
A successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications needed to do the job well:
Ability to communicate clearly with Teachers and other staff members
Ability to speak confidently and maintain structure in the classroom
Ability to create an encouraging learning environment
Has excellent classroom management skills and can differentiate appropriately for
students.
Excellent active listening skills
Understanding and sensitivity towards children
Excellent knowledge of lessons that students are required to learn in class
Ability to remain calm during stressful situations
Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education or related
Washington State Teaching License
In addition to the above requirements the ideal candidate should be able to provide work experience related to the job. This can include previous employment in another school or educational institution or student teaching.
