Part Time – After School Care Aide

Hosanna is a private, Christian school in Vancouver, Washington, partnering with families and students from Preschool to 12th Grade. We are growing and currently looking for qualified individuals to join our team as a part time after school aide!

The After School Aide works closely with students from Kindergarten to 12th grade in our Extended Care program. This individual will be successful in managing and interacting with large and small groups of students, keeping them on track as they wait for their parents/guardians after school. Students have the option to participate in outdoor activities on the playground or inside where they play games, study, read, and interact with other students.

After School Care Aide Duties and Responsibilities:

The ideal aide will be comfortable managing groups of students independently and maintaining a welcoming and peaceful environment while promoting the mission and vision of Hosanna. Duties will include monitoring students in groups, helping begin activities and cleaning up activities, acting as a mediator between students as necessary, and providing mentorship to those who need it. They should encourage positive behavior and promote an equitable environment where all students feel safe and respected.

After School Care Aide Skills and Qualifications:

A successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications needed to do the job well:

  • Ability to communicate clearly with students, parents, Teachers and other staff members

  • Ability to speak confidently and maintain structure in the classroom, gym, or on the

    playground.

  • Ability to create an encouraging learning environment

  • Has excellent classroom management skills

  • Excellent active listening skills

  • Understanding and sensitivity towards children

  • Ability to remain calm during stressful situations

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required

  • A good attitude and ability to keep up with high energy kids!
