Hosanna Christian School Janitor/Maintenance Lead
Hosanna is a private, Christian school in Vancouver, Washington, partnering with families and students from Preschool to 12th Grade.
We are looking for a full time Janitor/Maintenance Lead to join our staff for the 2021-2022 school year! Beginning this Fall, the school’s Janitor/Maintenance Lead will be responsible for opening the school each morning and keeping the building in operating order throughout the day. The hours for this position are 6:30am to 1:30pm Monday through Friday.
We are looking for someone who enjoys staying active throughout the day and doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty. The right candidate for this position is engaging, positive, has great in-person communication skills, and pays attention to the details.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to opening the building in the morning and unlocking classrooms before teachers arrive, general cleaning of the building before and during school, low maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs, fixing chairs, etc. moving desks, and helping monitor traffic in the parking lot during drop off in the morning.
Some additional duties are listed below:
- Hoisting the outdoor flag in the morning and taking it down at the end of the day.
- Making sure windows on glass entry doors are clean each morning.
- Sweeping classrooms, meeting rooms and the lunchroom after use.
- Vacuuming carpets and rugs as needed.
- Mopping floors as needed.
- Keeping bathrooms clean throughout the day.
- Cleaning sinks, toilets, mirrors, etc.
- Taking out the garbage
- Setting up the Cafeteria for lunchtime and taking it down after lunchtime.
- Setting up tables and chairs and taking them down.
- Assisting the staff with related tasks as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience working in a related janitorial, custodial, maintenance or cleaning position.
- Comfortable working with others and able to work independently throughout the day.
- Strong communication skills.
- Comfortable communicating with all levels of leadership and school staff.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness to work on different activities both inside and outside on the school premises.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Can lead by setting a good Christ-like example for students.
